Trent is Home

Just a quick note to let you all know that Trent is home from the hospital.  He's still running a fever, but we know it's not bacterial, which would have been more serious.  So, it's lots of Tylenol, rest and fluids for the little guy!

It was quite a whirlwind.  Who knew that if you show up with a kid with a 101 fever, who is under 6 weeks old, that you're not going to have a choice if you leave?  Well, I had a choice, but the medical staff said that they'd be calling Child Protective Services if I left.  So, stay we did!

Here's hoping the little dude gets to feelin' better soon!

Hospital visit

Memorial day

How are you spending yours?  Ours: spinal taps, xrays, ivs and much more.  Poor little guy.

Shorts

1.  I have the flu.  The upside of this is that I have a few minutes to write a quick blog.  Otherwise, I do not.  The downside is that it feels like someone put all of my muscles in the dryer and shrunk them to the point that they are no longer effective.  I cannot extend my fingers even.  Typing the blog hurts.  Really.

2.  Trent cries a lot.  I love him, but this is not cool.

3.  Trent has thrush.  I thought that was a bird, but apparently it's some sort of oral yeast infection.  I could not have withheld the jokes that this would have caused when I was in high school.  I'm older now.  It's still hard.

4.  To fix the thrush, Erin keeps talking about having to boil his nipples.  I cannot tell you how terrible this sounds to me.  Dick Cheney himself couldn't come up with such a terrible idea.

5.  Grant's favorite bands right now are Metallica and the Beastie Boys.  I don't know if I'm failing or succeeding as a parent.  I know what Erin thinks.

Back to bed.  I'll be keeping a close eye on my nipples around Erin.

Playing Catch Up

Things are hectic here, to say the least.  I am saving a big "Trent" blog for when we are 100% certain he is our baby "for keeps," which will happen in the next 10 days or so.  Until then, I have some pictures...

A crazy little girl sang in her spring program.

It's been sooooooooooooo hot already!

Someone looks so cute playing tball!

Mr. Trent

And, my sweet baby graduated from preschool.  Next step=kindergarten.  Cue tears!

Concerning

Yesterday afternoon as I packed for a business trip, Erin and I had a brief conversation regarding my safety.  Neither of us has had much sleep since the little dude came home, and I was staring a three hour drive in the face.

"You be careful.  We'd be in bad shape without you!"

I basked in the sentimentality for a moment, when Erin lovingly followed it up with "We don't have enough life insurance if you go."

I guess I know my role at this point...Sheesh.
