Old Montreal

This morning, after two long driving days, we were up early--ready to walk around Old Montreal. We ate breakfast, explored some street markets (with a very cool local jewelry purchase for Grace), visited the Montreal Science  Center, ate poutine (Canadian French fries with gravy and cheese curds), and had a glorious time in quiet of the fall morning.  The temps were jacket worthy first thing, but before long, we were ready for short sleeves.

Then, it was back for a nap for baby and daddy and a swim in the hotel pool, which scored huge points from the kids for having a glass bottom that is four stories above the lobby.

This evening we ventured out to Chinatown, which is only about two blocks from out hotel.  It was small, but the kids had fun shopping, eating and checking out several local Chinese bakeries.

Tomorrow is thanksgiving here in Canada, but it is already clear this isn't quite the fam and food fest that it is back home, so everything appears to be open, including one of the world's best farmers' markets, several parks, and all of the museums, so we should be good to go.

Until then, over and oot

In the heart of Old Montreal

I don't love this Thomas the Tank Engine hat, but it's the only way I can keep a hat on the kid!

Science fun (thank you Passport Program for another free science experience)... Trent attempts to pull up Daddy, which--ahem--requires a little help!

Grace is eyeing the copper earings!  She settled on flower studs.

Local foods are a must!

Grace is sizing up her options at the Chinese bakery!  She picked the largest pasty I have ever seen for Bret (really, it's larger than a dinner plate; he's not complaining!)
